iRacing Toyota GR86 Guide
The Toyota GR86 is a D-licence production car in iRacing. Rear-wheel drive, 2.4-litre flat-four, and balanced handling make it a natural step up from the MX-5 or a companion to the BMW M2. It appears in the Toyota GR86 Cup and Production Endurance Challenge.
Car Characteristics
- Engine: 2.4 L flat-four. Linear power delivery, no turbo
- Drive: Rear-wheel drive. Responsive to weight transfer
- Weight: Light for its class. Nimble through slow and medium corners
- Assists: No ABS or TC in many series—teaches threshold braking and throttle control
Series
Toyota GR86 Cup runs fixed setups with frequent races. Production Endurance Challenge mixes the GR86 with other production cars (Clio, MX-5, BMW M2) for longer events. Both are ideal for building Safety Rating and racecraft at D-licence.
Driving Tips
- Braking: Brake in a straight line where possible. Smooth release into turn-in
- Throttle: Progressive application on exit. The rear can step out if you rush the throttle
- Rotation: Good front-end grip. Use trail braking to help rotation in tight corners
