iRacing Differential Settings Guide

The differential controls how torque is distributed between driven wheels. Preload and ramp angles affect traction on exit and rotation under power.

Preload

Preload determines how much torque is required before the diff "opens". Higher preload = more lock, better traction out of slow corners, less rotation. Lower preload = more rotation, possible wheelspin.

Ramp Angles

Accel ramp affects power application. Decel ramp affects lift-off and trail braking. Steeper ramps = more lock. Softer ramps = more diff action, more rotation.

Power Delivery

Aggressive diff settings can cause inside wheelspin on exit. Softer settings allow more wheel speed difference, aiding rotation but potentially reducing traction. Track and car dependent.
